I plan on changing my name, how should I fill out my materials?
A. Your name should be consistent throughout the internship application process. Once you begin your internship, it will be less confusing to make a name change.
A. The eligibility form is the AAPI Part II and the eligibility letter from the Director of Training.
What is the difference between a CV and a resume? Which should I be sending?
A. Essentially, a CV is a very detailed resume. In your CV you would list relevant coursework, workshops, conferences, etc. You will enclose your CV in each application packet.
With COMPS being returned so close to some internship application deadlines , how do I procede in preparing my application packets?
A. If you have the results in time, then update your materials. If you do not, then indicate "expected" or "intended" and future date the section 10/06. There is no specific date because of second reads, but the thumbnail timeframe is "by the end of October." For any other COMPS related questions, see the Petition and Instructions that you received.
How late can I pay for the Match service?
A. You can wait to pay for the Match service until November, but this does result in another layer of complexity as you may wind up sending out applications without your match number. You will then have to be vigilant and follow up with sites when you do get your number.
What site codes do I use on the Training Department's Internship Site Request Form?
A. When filling out the Training Department's Internship Site Request Form, please use the site codes that are used by APPIC. The same goes for Canadian internship sites as well.
How many official transcripts should I request?
A. You should request the number of sites you are approved to apply to plus an extra copy for yourself. When you submit your request form to the registrar, you will be required to attach a copy of your approved site list.
Why do we do a CRP instead of a Dissertation (and/or why is it called the former and not the latter)?
A. In the Clinical Psychology Program of Argosy University, Chicago Campus, the students' final written project is called the Clinical Research Project. Though similar in many respects to a Dissertation, the CRP may involve greater variance that those that typically fall into the Dissertation category. In other words, while Dissertations in scientific-scholar programs are often considered to involve a rigorous research design, the CRP in Clinical Psychology does not necessarily entail this type of work. Consistent with our practitioner-scholar model, the CRP requires students to articulate a particular clinical question or set of questions to address in the project. The CRP may be a theoretical project, a case study, a qualitative research project, a group design research project (experimental or quasi-experimental) or a quantitative research project. **If this comes up in an interview, we advise you to focus on discussing the work that you have done (be it theoretical, quantitative or qualitattive) rathen then getting caught up in trying to explain the difference between a CRP or Disseratation.
