2011 Global Studies Association (GSA) Conference


Chuck Yaeger Presenting at Conference

Five scholarly-written papers were presented by the Argosy University-Chicago Campus’ Graduate Business Program Department at the 2011 GSA Conference held at Loyola University, Chicago on May 20-22. The theme of the Conference was “The Global Crisis: Through the Lens of Class, Race and Gender”.

Bharat S. Thakkar, Ph. D., Core Graduate Business Faculty chaired a panel discussion session on “Financialization, Crisis and Development.

The following papers were presented:

1. Quentin E. Jackson and Bharat S. Thakkar: “Graduate Business Faculty and Researchers: Change Agents in the Social Economic Ascendancy Triad”. (Dr. Jackson graduated with DBA, Chicago Campus in 2010), Panel on Education in the Global Classroom

2. Charles Yeager: “Impact of the Chinese Currency on U.S. Manufacturing”. (Mr. Yeager is currently a DBA student), Panel on The Global Path in East Asia

3. Steven K. Sands and Bharat S. Thakkar: “The Failure of Market Economies During the Global Crisis”. (Dr. Sands graduated with DBA, Schaumburg Campus in 2009), Panel on Financialization, Crisis and Development.

4. Lowell C. Matthews and Bharat S. Thakkar: “Nationality and the Global Crisis: A Comparative Analysis of India, Philippines and the U.S”. (Mr. Matthews is currently a DBA student), Panel on Financialization, Crisis and Development

5. Arica Ostreicher and Bharat S. Thakkar: “Relationship of Cultural Aspects and Economic Growth: Case of Developing Nations”. (Ms. Ostreicher is currently a DBA student), Panel on National Identities, Global Existence.

The Conference was attended by over 200 scholars from all over US. The program consisted of twenty-five parallel panels, and five keynote speakers over three days. The Conference details can be found in this link. :
